World Migratory Bird Day and Pokhran II Celebration, 13th May, 2023

Fieldwork on Habitat evaluation for wildlife conservation and managament Semester VI (session 20-23)

 The students of Semester VI visited the plantations opposite the Hawai Nagar, near Birsa Chowk, for a fieldwork on habitat evaluation for wildlife conservation and management.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FRONTIERS IN BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE (INCFBS 2023)

Two students John Osga and Mansha Aftab Khan of Semester IV M.Sc. Zoology (Entomology Section), participated and delivered oral presentation in the Online International Conference on Frontiers in Biological Science (INCFBS - 2023) organized by Department of Zoology, Dapoli Urban Bank Senior Science College, Dapoli, Dist. Ratnagiri, Maharashtra (India) on Saturday, 11th March, 2023 under the Guidance of Dr. Manoj Kumar , Department of Zoology, St. Xavier's College, Ranchi.

World wetlands day celebration, 02 February, 2023

 World Wetlands Day 2023 was celebrated in the department under the able guidance of Dr. Bharti Singh Raipat (HoD, Department of Zoology). During the event several competitions such as - poster presentation, speech and quiz competition based on environmental awareness were held. The event was marked by the presence of Dr. Bharti Singh Raipat, Dr. Priya Srivastava, Dr. Manoj Kumar,  Dr. Pipas Kumar, and Mr. Julian Ekka. The program ended with Certificate distribution to the winners of the competitions. 









Bird awareness program, 25th January 2023

 Under the able guidance of Dr. Bharti Singh Raipat (H.O.D.), A bird awareness program was hosted by the Department of Zoology, St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi in collaboration with IBPS, Dhanbad. The posters were inaugurated by Dr. Fr. Nabol Lakra, Principal, St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi. Mr AK Sahay was the chief guest for the program. Various Posters were displayed depicting messages about bird conservation and awareness. Dr. Pipas Kumar, Dr. Ajay Srivastava (H. O. D., Botany), Dr. A. Dutta and others were present during the event.

08 February, 2023, Educational Visit to Birsa Biological Park, Chakla Ormanjhi. Semester I (2022-2025)

 A total of 68 students accompanied by Dr. Manoj Kumar, Mouli Chakraborty visited the Birsa Biological Park, Chakla, Ormanjhi for partial fulfilment of graduation degree in Zoology. The bust left he college premises at 9.30 am and reached the destination at 10.30 am.

Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, is one of the most beautiful and progressive zoos in India having 104 ha of area of mildly undulating topography with natural dry deciduous Sal forests an dwater bodies in and around it. the park is situated on both sides of National Highway 33, at about 20 km from Ranchi city. On the northern side of the NH is the botanical section consisting an area of 23 ha, while the larger part of park on the southern side of NH is the zoological section or the main zoo spread over an area of 81 ha.

The students observed the behaviour of various animals housed in the Zoo (ex-situ conservation) including the rare White Tiger and Black panther and various exotic birds. 

In the second part of the visit, the students visited the Ranchi Aquarium.
