St. Xavier’s College Ranchi Organizes Interactive Session on Higher Education and Career Prospects in Technical and Environmental Sciences
Ranchi, 09 May 2026: The Department of Zoology, in collaboration with IQAC, St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi, organized an academic interactive session on the topic “Higher Education and Career Prospects after B.Sc in Technical Fields and M.Sc Environmental Science & Technology as a Gateway.” The programme aimed to create awareness among undergraduate science students regarding higher education opportunities, emerging career avenues, research pathways, and skill-based learning in technical and environmental sciences.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Bharti Singh Raipat, who emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary learning, research orientation, and skill enhancement in today’s academic environment.

The resource persons for the session were Dr. Sukalyan Chakraborty and Dr. Tanushree Bhattacharya. The distinguished speakers were formally introduced by Dr. Priya Srivastava.

During the session, the speakers elaborated on the growing relevance of competency-based education under NEP-2020, interdisciplinary academic pathways, internships, research opportunities, sustainability studies, and career prospects in sectors such as environmental management, biotechnology, renewable energy, climate science, and data-driven industries. The speakers also discussed the newly introduced M.Sc. Environmental Science and Technology programme at BIT Mesra, highlighting its curriculum structure, industrial exposure, internship opportunities, and global research prospects.
The programme was graced by the presence of respected Father Principal, Father Vice Principal, Controller of Examination, Registrar, Heads of various Science Departments, faculty members, and students. Faculty members present during the programme included Ms. Mouli Chakroborty and Dr. Ramita Kumari from the Department of Zoology, along with Dr. Hansda and Ms. Swarnima Jha from the Department of Botany, among others.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who actively interacted with the speakers and sought guidance regarding higher education and career planning.
